5 signs you're the star summer intern

Managers can almost always determine who is passionate about what they do versus who is simply there to take home a paycheck. Times have changed since I was in school. There wasn’t so much riding on the number of internships you did or what you accomplished during them. You’d go to work after class, do what you were told, and leave at the end of the term with a bit of a flourish. But in today’s world, internships have turned into something much more than experiences to put on your resume. Internships have become a gateway for students, recent graduates, and professionals in career transitions to embark upon new networks and full-time positions that may otherwise be elusive. For all involved, they help with making informed decisions about talent and career moves, whittling down what skills are needed from a prospective hire or what type of position and tasks will feed happiness in the workplace. S’well is no exception. Internships are an important part of our growth strategy and cultur…

Internship! Internship! Where are you?

So, without throwing light into its importance, let's talk about from where we can get these opportunities. Today, everyone has the knowledge of internet or actually is supposed to have. Engineering Internship on Hike

More companies want interns. A recent survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers states that employers plan to increase internship hiring by 8.5 percent. Several factors are contributing toward this increase in demand. "Nearly 80 percent of employers view internships as the new way to find full-time hires, and 70 percent of internships culminate with a full-time offer from that same employer," "With fierce competition for full-time employment continuing, students are striving to have multiple internships on their resume, which contributes to the growth of the internship market." Currently over 10 percent of our available internships are for engineering roles, which is the highest we have seen in the past three years. "A lot of these are electrical engineering positions related to the growing competition among tech companies like Google, Apple, and LinkedIn. Mechanical engineering internships are also on the rise because more companies are inv…

How to Get the Most Out of Your Internship

An internship can be an amazing opportunity to learn valuable skills, and to begin building your professional network. While each internship is unique, there is one common factor—you. You control much of your experience, so take note of these five strategies that can help you maximize your internship: 1. Maintain a positive attitude Much of your internship experience will be determined not by any one action you take, but by your attitude throughout. Treat each day like an interview. Even if you are not hired, or if you have another year or two of college before you enter the job market, the people you meet at your internship may impact your future career. They may write you a letter of reference (see below for more information), or they may be in a position to hire you in a year. They may even know of a vacancy that suits you. Do not limit this attitude to your immediate supervisor. You never know who is watching, and office gossip can be a powerful force. Plan to go beyond the minimu…
